I am sometimes amazed by the way our " Presidents" are hailed as saviors of the Universe, the Messiahs who will come to save the universe from the antediluvian reptilians attack on mankind. It appear that, the President, as pictured by the commoner, is really a sort of King; albeit an elected one. Indeed, when George Washington marched his army of rebels against the British empire in 1798...and won, he was proposed by an overjoyed mass of Americans to throned as "King"! He humbly rejected the offer choosing rather to be a "President".
Without trying to stir up into too many details, I just want to pinpoint that for the greater majorities, the elected president is an almighty man who can stir up changes and move up the Nation into the rightful path! But is it really the case?
I really think that the democratic experiment of the 20th century has been a remarkable failure. While the masses have been allowed to express their preference by casting their vote in the ballot boxes, it is obviously clear to anyone willing to open his eyes that powerful special interests always seem to remain at the helms of Nations; thus continuing the century old system of class dichotomy between an Elite and a third Estate. While such separation is unique to each and every culture, its existence cannot be denied by any honest individual.
So, what is the point of electing a New president every other year if the Elite is firmly in charge and continues to direct the Nation as it pleases? Isn't the institution of presidency, thus democracy itself, clearly overrated?
But here come the Entrepreneur! In most societies, thanks to the Marxist class theory, the successful entrepreneur is now depicted as a parasite; The bourgeois who orders people around while sitting on his " asses" stealing the workers profits.
Do the entrepreneur bring anything positive to the table?
-Nooo! As a matter of fact, the " president" should " regulate him" and tax his " profits" in order for the masses to benefit a little bit from his deceitful thievery.
But what about the innovations that successful entrepreneurs have brought about throughout history? What about oil with Rockefeller's standard oil? Industrial steel by Carnegie? Computers software with Bill Gates and the Iphone with Steve Jobs? Haven't entrepreneurs contributed to the improvement of society more than they are given credit for?
Some people will argue that it was actually the " workers" who did all the work, not the capitalists!
But this is clearly ridiculous for the entrepreneur was the instigator and the developer of the idea.
My contention is that "entrepreneurship is the difference makers between prosperous Nations and poor Nations. Entrepreneurship is central for economic development for the entrepreneur is a risk taker and a forecaster with a vision and the strong mindset that enables him/her to dedicate a large portion of his time into the realization of his dream idea. Civilization advance through discovery, and the entrepreneurs are the agents who stir the evolution of civilization into new hight through their innovative and life changing discoveries!
For a very long period of time, societal life was rather stagnant, divided into castes, with very little " forces" of change beside warfares or invasions by external conquering forces. It was the birth of entrepreneurship that allowed individual of little means, through hard work, and ingenuity were able to get past the artificial boundaries established by cultural prejudices. Entrepreneurs therefore shake up society upside down by providing new opportunities for people to move up the ladders of society while improving their standards of living along the way.
Nowadays for example, there are thousands of people making money by simply editing videos on " Youtube"! Some of these individuals make hundreds of thousands of dollars/years by simply appealing to their audience subjective preferences through their unique filmographic skills. This would have been unimaginable 10...5 years ago! But it is happening now!
Who are truly the saviors of mankind but the Entrepreneur? The difference between Hong Kong and Cameroon is quite simple: Hong Kong harbors a lot more successful entrepreneurs than the beautiful yet corrupt African country of Cameroon. While Nature has blessed the land of Cameroon with immense potentials, the " political structure" does not enable entrepreneurs to develop their ideas and maximize their potentialities. The corrupt State tries, very awkwardly, to be involved in people lives, restraining their creativity and genius, thus hindering change and progress and forcing the most talented to to immigrate out of their own homeland.
-Thank you Mr President!
All in all, one can claim that beyond the redistributive impulses of neo-Statists, entrepreneurs are really despised because they represent a competitive challenge against the power of the Aristocracy, the old aristocracy.
Aristocrats dislike the new-rich! They really do! Refraining the ability of society from constantly reshuffling the powers of those at the helm is therefore one of the fundamental reason why some of the Richest men in the world often espouse " SOCIALISM" and " REDISTRIBUTIVISM". It is mere self preservation!
Indeed, a little look into history clearly shows that the early Russian Marxists where supported by the Western Banking elites while some of England royalties were enamored with Hitler's insanities! The respected but ignored British author Anthony C Sutton claim that the American and Western elite were concerned with the potential rise of Russia as a competitive market against the US. By financing socialism, the West would be able to control the unproductive and wasteful communist State, thus insuring their economic and military superiority for generations. To establish a pyramidical society where the " Aristocracy" is firmly in power is therefore the true foundation of SOCIALISM and other form of COLLECTIVISM. The "old elite" does not like the idea of the entrepreneurial worm coming out of nowhere to " steal" their wealth and most importantly; THEIR POWER.
